GL SKYE THE AUTHOR

GL Skye is an American author, born Guy Lee Snodgrass in Frankfort Indiana in 1961. He later moved to Kentucky were he fell in love with the beautiful landscape. His ancestors are Scots-Irish. Perhaps the reason for his ultimate love of the mountains.

He joined the Army National Guard at the age of 18. At the age of 23 he entered active duty in the U.S. Army where he finished his B.S. degree in Geography. He retired after 25 years of service in 2005 as a Chief Warrant Officer.

Skye enjoyed a successful and rewarding military career.  He deployed in support of Desert Shield and Desert Storm, KFOR (Kosovo), Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom as well as other Peacekeeping and Humanitarian operations.

He graduated from high school in 1983 from McCreary County High School in Whitley City, Kentucky.
After graduation he attended Cumberland College in Williamsburg Kentucky.

He has done a lot of traveling. Some of his travels were in support of the United States while he was in the Army but he has traveled for leisure as well.

While he enjoys traveling, he also enjoys being home. He currently resides in south-central Kentucky where he continues his love of geology and geospatial sciences, with his wife, Angela and their dog, Onyx.

He has three children and two granddaughters.
He is a member of the GIS Certification Institute (GISP), PnPAuthors, Cold Coffee Club and Life Member of the VFW.

GL Skye’s goal with his writing is to create books that draw the readers into a world were bad things happen, but good eventually wins out. He wants to open a Veterans Home for homeless and transitioning veterans with the proceeds from his books. The Veterans Home plans are underway. The GLS Veterans Home should have its 501c3 status no later than August 2018, depending on how fast the paperwork gets processed. His goal is to fully support the veterans home. Until he is able to support it solely on his own he is accepting donations.

In addition to his writing he enjoys wood working, hiking, hunting, fishing and camping.  Some of his travels were in support of the United States while he was in the Army but he has traveled for leisure as well.
