Reasons to have a Readiness (Survival) Plan
Having a Readiness (Survival) Plan enables you to know what needs to be done and when. The survival or ability to live through an event is not left to “chance”. Everyone involved knows what to do, when they need to do it, and why it needs to be done.
Stress and fear shuts down our prefrontal cortex. The prefrontal cortex is the part of our brain that carries out higher reasoning.
In the event the person who knows “the plan” is incapacitated everyone still knows what needs to be done. Whether it is working to be self-reliant or dealing with calamity, having a plan enables the actions that need to be taken get done.
Rehearsing your plan builds “muscle memory”. This enable the necessary actions are accomplished even if stress or fear are present.
